ABOUT THE ARTIST
-
Siyeon Kim | South Korea
Born in Seoul, Korea, in 1971, Siyeon Kim received her BFA and MFA in Sculpture from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul and MFA in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts in New York. As one of the leading Korean female artists in mid-career, Kim has ardently developed her distinctive artistic language through various mediums, including installation and photography. With her background in sculpture, Kim’s approach to photography has provided a uniquely poetic method of interpretation that intentionally deals with the ephemeral environments of her creation. The exceptional sensibilities of Kim’s work reminds us of the American visual artist, Ann Hamilton, whose work revolves around large-scale multi-media installations noted for bringing out poetic responses from the audience.View Profile »
