STORM KING ART CENTER
The Storm King Art Center is an open-air sculpture park spread across 500 acres in the rolling hills, fields and woodlands of Mountainville, New York, about 14 miles southwest of Dia:Beacon.
It is home to over 100 sculptures by acclaimed post-war modern and contemporary artists like Alexander Calder, Michael Steiner, Mark Di Suvero and Nam June Paik.
The latest exhibition Zhang Huan: Evoking Tradition presents 15 sculptures and works by internationally celebrated Contemporary Chinese artist Zhang Huan, which opened in May this year and will run till November 9th.
The exhibition is focused around themes of Chinese traditional culture after Zhang moved back to China in 2005, showcasing a total of 6 colossal outdoor sculptures alongside a series of busts created from incense ash collected from Buddhist temples around Tibet and China.
Set against a backdrop of the Schunnemunk Mountains, Storm King is the perfect summer retreat. Whether explored by tram, foot or bike, there are numerous hidden surprises in this vast topography that truly celebrates art and nature as one.
