Held from 23 April to 8 May 2016, ART LOFT ASIA had the privilege of viewing the works of the MA Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition at Lasalle College of the Arts. Displayed in Gallery 1 of Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore at LASALLE College of the Arts, 11 graduates of LASALLE’s MA Fine Arts programme showcased their final works and projects. The exhibition titled “And the rest of such things” marks the end of the artists’ academic journey as well as a new beginning – two of which were from our very own artists Sukeshi Sondhi and Deusa Blumke.
Through a range of mediums including painting, sculpture, video and installation, the graduates bring to attention the intricacies and complexities of their creative processes. These artists attempt to translate their experiences in “And the rest of such things” through deeply rigorous experimentations and trials.
With works spanning the width and length of both the walls and floor; made from materials one never thought possible, it is no wonder that people often comment, “Is this art?” Despite that, it is art. No longer are these graduates solely focused on the visual aspect of what art should be, but give a voice to the unseen, the unheard and the forgotten.
