  • Artist Story
  • Ryoko Kato began her interest in art when she was around 16 to 17 years old when she was still in high school. She came from an artistic family where her parents were also art lovers. Ryoko’s first opportunity to paint was a reproduction of an artwork from the Sung dynasty (宋代), which was based on a picture found in the catalogue of an auction. Ryoko got married soon after graduation but shortly, the war started. Ryoko’s main focus during the war was to feed her three children and that resulted in a period where she was compelled to put her love for art aside. She began painting again only afterwards and in her older artworks, she used to paint detailed imagery of flowers and landscape. However, in recent years, she began to further explore the essence of nature and captures it in her paintings with the intention to create artworks that soothe the mind of the viewer.

The works by Ryoko Kato are part of a special collection of exquisite art prints titled Limited Edition 88 by art gallery Kato Art Duo.
