  • Artist Story
  • Nidhi Samani is a British-Indian artist based in Singapore since 2008. Nidhi explores Oils, Charcoal, Mixed Medium and Chinese Brush painting. Each one of her art work is an expression of its own genre.

Nidhi is intrigued by the new dimensions that she perceives through her senses. She takes a leap into the ‘deeper dimensions’ that are unspoken, and only felt. Nature and enlightenment through mysticism is her source of inspiration that draws her to find the purpose of her existence, and she says “Painting is one of the many mediums of expressing what the senses sees and hears; art transcends the inner voice of the soul”.

Rendezvous with art, painting and training for over two decades, her passion with arts began when she was introduced to the black and white contrasts in Charcoal work with all shades of darkness visible only in light. Her art brings the characters and ideas into imaginable dimensions, compelling the viewer to be drawn into the subject.

She took a formal study in Western Art at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. She became fascinated by Chinese brush strokes and took training under the guidance of Master Lin Lu Zai in Singapore.

Having been trained in Fashion Designing formally, she found her passion for illustrations and translations of expressions in her sketches. She went on to establish VNF School of Fashion Designing, training adults into the then latest explosion in Fashion in India. She continued her passion with fashion by launching her own label. Destiny took her to London, where she took on a career in banking. Art took precedence, and she has been a practising artist for some time now, and many of her art is in private collection in Australia, India, Kenya, and the UK.

John Olsen's quote “Painting is a means of self-enlightenment.” inspires Nidhi to follow her inner guidance and dimensions.
