Unknowing
Zen Teh
In this series "Unknowing", Zen Teh employs the visual metaphor of a landscape to comment on Man’s interventions on the natural world, and to present the idea of the human body as a physical and exploratory space. These works utilise a vertical orientation to confront the viewers with a depiction of change as the breakdown of human society, nature and our physical bodies.
This Diptych is comprised of 2 photographs, 60 x 180cm each.
Edition of 3
- Size: W 60.0 cm x H 180.0 cm

Shi Wei (Zen) works primarily with film photography. Her photographs are largely shot using a medium format camera, with film rolls she develops herself. Hand crafting her photographs carefully is important to Zen, as it forms part of her meditative process in her work creation.
View Profile »
Zen won the Highly Commended Award in the 24th UOB Painting of the Year competition and was selected as an exhibiting artist at the recent Spot Art, Southeast Asia’s first juried platform for promising young artists. As an environmentalist, her work is concerned with issues underlying the changing landscape in Singapore. In 2013, she exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum and National Museum of Singapore, and was recently awarded an artist residency in Angkrit Gallery, Thailand by the Art Incubator.
Zen is both an artist and an educator. As an educator, she strives to share her experience as an art maker in an innovative manner, and believes that effective art learning lies in nurturing the attitude.
