Oblivion - Table
This work is part of the "Oblivion" series which Endira tries to imagine animals' vision and perception towards domestication. On her canvases, she has composed a scenery of what appears "normal" to us; a living room, a work room, a bathroom, a wine cellar... The oddities arise as we come across the presence of various animals in each room, which appear to replace the presence of humans. These portrayals convey to the audience an imaginary resistance against humankind's domination.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Currently residing in Bandung, Indonesia, Endira holds a Bachelor of Design from Institut Teknologi Bandung where he majored in Graphic Design.View Profile »
His work has been based on his interest in domestication as part of human civilization. He focuses on how humans react when others cross into or enter their private spaces. Most of his works are created in duotone - like old photographs. Old photographs gift him with particular insights - they are the medium which he uses in parallel to delivering the images that he draws; an echo of the distance between the past and the present, what was, what has changed, and what will be missed.
