Ever a mercurial figure, Shane Bowden eludes public apprehension & definitions by constantly shifting styles & adhering to his own intuitive program of freedom & novelty of execution & themes. He has been described as Andy Warhol on steroids and the new Damien Hirst.
In addition to his own name, he also works under the alter ego’s / collections of Mofisto, S&B, Aw.then.tik.8.ed, Yves Kaiser, Bakku-shane.
His creative output of paintings has been prodigious & astonishing in the last 2 years with over 8,000 original works completed & snapped up by collectors. He is considered by many as the world’s most prolific artist.
Synoptic flashing juxtapositions of silk screened imagery nostalgically recall the visual stratagems of the sixties; the collage techniques & unexpected material contrasts here & there, deliberately untidy contours & lavish paint smears meters long in these new combinations remind us that his works continue to bridge the gap between action painting & Pop Art as well as the seminal gap between art & life which he has so compellingly carved out for himself.
From well known collectors like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to the corporate board rooms of Vogue Magazine, Shane Bowden is shown all around the world in both National and State art collections and private collections alike.
He has been nominated and a finalist multiple times in the Salon Des Refusees, Archibald Prize, and Doug Moran Portrait Prize.
