'Oddlings' is an articulation of the intangible aspects of childhood. Dealing with emotional trauma, unconscious desire and loneliness, personal childhood memories and experiences are analysed and expressed in a corrupt idea of 'play'.
Each piece utilizes a series of symbols and metaphors to carry out an underlying narrative which centers around the power play that arises in the long-term interactions between two children who engage in a bully-victim relationship. Allison hints at themes involving Hegel's Master-Slave Dialectic and Sigmund Freud's theories on Unconscious Desire, where subjects are captured in stasis before an event - as a way of addressing the idea of choice whilst emphasizing a slow development of psychosis in relation to time, using games as a premise for abuse.
