Eat (No. 1)
In his series “Eat Man Eat”, the artist addresses the simple affair of having a meal to highlight broader social concerns of consumerism and compulsive habits. Eat (No. 1) revolves around human desires and greed. The artist applies his distinctive technique of ink-work on to both man and his food to create a consistent textural pattern.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mick is a graduate from the National Institute of Fine Arts (NIFA) in Vientiane and is one of the foremost contemporary artists in Laos. He is also probably one of the most travelled artists from Lao PDR; having visited many parts of Asia like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China, etc.View Profile »
Being very interested in world affairs and daily lives of people; his works are very much social commentary in nature presented through his trademark oil and ink on canvas. He has also participated in various major art exhibitions, workshops, seminars and residency programmes (including a 3 month residency in Bali, Indonesia in 2007 and a 3 month residency in Singapore in 2011).
Mick’s paintings have been collected by local and overseas collectors; including public and private institutions which also include the National Art Gallery, Singapore. Born 1977 in Huoaphan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).
