ABOUT THE ARTIST
YUNRUBIN is a Copenhagen-Singapore art group founded in 2012 by Jonas Rubin and Joanne Pang Rui Yun. They work together to create a scale of objects, site-specific installation for events such as Copenhagen Art Run (Denmark), Aabenraa Artweek (Denmark) and exhibitions at Grey Projects (Singapore), Helligåndshuset (Denmark), Harkala Museum (Iceland), Haw Par Villa (Singapore) and Ruskin Gallery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.View Profile »
Jonas Rubin (b. 1970, Denmark) is the co-founder of Yunrubin. He is an artist, independent producer and director. He is educated in Middle Eastern Studies with Persian language at Carsten Niebuhr Institute, Copenhagen University. In 1990, he had his first exhibition in Overgaden, Copenhagen. In 1998, he exhibited in a photography exhibition, Rampen in Copenhagen. He has produced several short films, shown at festival such as in Short Cuts, Denmark (2003). From 2005-2012, he was the co-producer for Copenhagen local television, JazzTv. In 2009, he produced a television programme on Buster Film Festival. He has also contributed articles on culture, politics and art in Danish magazines. In 2011, his illustration was featuredon an antology of poetry “Fragmenter", Det Poetiske Bureau.
Joanne Pang Rui Yun (b. 1986, Singapore) is the co-founder of Yunrubin. She is an artist, award winning graphic designer and photographer. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual Communication) from The School of Art, Design and Media, NTU, Singapore and a Master of Fine Arts from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, School of Visual Art in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2012, she was the overall winner for Body-theme Category at Singapore Young Photography Awards and a gold and bronze medalist at Singapore Design Awards 2012. Her first solo exhibition was held at a void deck in Singapore (2009) and since then her works have been exhibited at Substation, Singapore (2014) , Singapore Art Museum (2012), 10th International Poster Triennial in Toyama, Japan (2012), Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Denmark (2013), among many others. She has made site-specific art installations for Roskilde Festival in Denmark (2011), BKS Garage, Denmark (2011) and Mustarinda Summer Exhibition, Finland (2012).
