ABOUT THE ARTIST
-
RAMI | South Korea
RAMI has photographed portraits and landscapes that touched his heart. Several years ago, he started a series of photos titled ‘Tree Series’. He shot his first photo of trees as he started to view the forest and trees as a form of healing. Nature plays an important role in producing a calming effect, giving pure relaxation to each of us.View Profile »
RAMI has imagined each person’s life through each tree and reflected back on his life. Trees have various appearances; sometimes twigs shoot vertically straight up from the base, other times, they are divided into two large pillars, or grow sideways. The variance in trees remind him of the various facets in life.
He used this an an analogy for views held in Korean societies. Koreans tend to focus on someone's background and social conditions instead of the person himself. He wanted to focus on the main structure of trees: trunks and stems, and chose to shoot with an infrared camera. In doing so, he creates a much stronger contrast with each scene.
