  Wal Chirachaisakul's self-portraits and portraits of those close to him are an expression of his childhood environment. Growing up, he was often surrounded by an atmosphere of negativity,confusion and conflict.
  
  Having been confined in this environment for so long, faith and stability was lost and this environment of negativity was accepted as the norm. And as such, Chirachaisakul came to accept such chaotic environments as the familiar.
