This photograph is my take on portraying Anhedonia and Depression and the treacherous way it makes the sufferer attempt to unempty the mind-- in its torturous zombie-like state-- by filling it with anything that the mind can absorb, even if it means meaningless junk.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
- Darlene is a 33-year old Filipina photographer trapped in the body of a frustrated visual artist. She can't paint or draw or sculpt, and so, she shoots. Her brand of digital photography, she would like to believe, mostly gravitates towards the whimsical, surreal, emotive, and visual narrative. The whole process of shooting and creating is in equal parts, therapeutic and liberating for Darlene, especially in her almost two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. Apart from her attempts in writing, it is through her photography that the artist gives artistic expression to her personal existential spectrum and her observations of the human experience. Darlene holds a deep-rooted fascination with dreams and she would happily oblige when her dreams insist on making special appearances in her images. She believes in respect for an unhampered freedom to express human emotion and she would like her art to reflect this. View Profile »
